If you think I spend my days recording and editing videos just to lie to you, then you have bigger problems 😂

Noted! The difference on video after UA-cam also adds their compression is nothing compared to what you see in headset. Just look at some of the other comments here. It’s night and day in headset.

It's literally just the base official Meta Quest Link app that everyone would already have installed if they're using the Quest for PCVR.

I agree with the physics part, but the graphics are extremely extremely outdated. Have you found any kind of shaders or patches to make it look a bit better?

@@VRManCave Idk i havent searched for it I use quest 2 so the graphics are ok and it runs perfectly Even better that assetto corsa Personally for me the feel is so much more important than graphics Dirt rally feels too responsive and the FFB is very light Still i love it Different sims for different needs

This update is now the default, so no need to change to the Beta branch for it.

None of the updates since have had any patch notes related to VR.

I have both Crystal and Crystal Light and in my opinion, as mentioned in the video too, besides the eye tracking and maybe the microphone, there is literally nothing that makes the Crystal better than the Light. But I'm just a dude on the internet, doesn't mean my opinion is the truth :)

After the latest 1.0 update no, it’s been optimized quite a bit and runs way better.

The answer is quite simple, and two fold. First, the Quest 3 comes with a stock strap that's worse than a pair of women's underwear for keeping it stable on your head. Secondly, if I compared the weight of the Quest 3 alone, then it would only be fair to deduct the weight of the headstrap and headphones from the Crystal Light, wouldn't it? Finally, to give you the simplest possible answer, I was just comparing my personal favorite Quest 3 setup with the Pimax. P.S. If you use the Quest 3 with the stock strap, then hats off to you sir, you're a very rare breed.

Thanks so much! So the Crystal Light is inside-out tracked by default, but if you get the lighthouse tracked version then yes, it will work with any base stations.

Absolutely agree normally, but the implementation here is just bad. I've tried it on the Pimax Crystal as well and it's still terrible even over displayport. Also, almost every other racing game looks fantastic on the Quest 3, both wireless and wired.

Haven’t used this in a while but if I remember correctly you can just lean backwards physically to walk in that direction

I’ve used the G923 on 3 separate units and and full force feedback when cornering they were all loud compared to anything belt driven or direct drive. Also almost all reviews I’ve seen online mention it.

I unfortunately don’t own the G2, but from everything I’ve read and watched, the sweet spot on the G2 is pretty small. On the Crystal Light it’s huge and from reading specs on the G2 online it seems the FOV is also considerably larger.

Hi, enough, on the 3080ti - MSFS works very well, sometimes small jams flying over big cities, but it's quite nice. But for full potential of this headset in games will be possible with series 5090 or rather 6080/6090.

3080 is definitely enough but just don’t expect to max out settings.

If you mean your PC games from Oculus Store, then they are in the Games Tab in VD. If you mean native Quest games, then you don’t see those there.

It’s miles better yes. I still love the Quest 3 but for PCVR the compression is not great, whereas on this Pimax one there is no compression so it looks incredible.

I have a 4090 on my main PC, but I've also tested this on my older 3070-powered PC and it worked just fine. Of course as you can imagine, you won't be able to max out everything on less powerful cards, but it will work.

Well, not to be rude but... the Index is a 5-year old headset, using very old tech. This Crystal Light is pretty much the latest and greatest 😁

The valve index still is a good headset, and still has THE BEST controllers and tracking. I'm sorry, but inside out tracking is doodoo compared to outside in. I'm still using my index and i love it. I'll only upgrade if valve releases a worthy successor

Do you recommend to get this VR headset I have the Pico 4 currently which I use for also for PCVR. How much better is the FOV and image quality on this Pimax Crystal Light?

I have not personally tried the XR-4, I only own the Varjo Aero as a point of comparison. For me, the Crystal Light is the absolute best image I've ever experience in VR. Also I'd say comparing a sub $1K headset like the Crystal Light to the $4K+ Varjo XR-4, which is not even meant for gaming, is not really a fair comparison. With the $3K difference in price you could get a really nice PC, or a Sim Racing or Flight Sim rig that would be incredible if you already have a 4090-powered PC. Regardless, I don't think the XR-4 is worth the pricetag for home use.

It’s not under betas, it’s a full release so just update the game and you’re good to go.

As with any headset it will depend on your IPD, but on their website they say 125 degrees.

All the footage in the video is of the Crystal Light, except for those few seconds where I show the headphones mine came with, the non-DMAS ones, which I’ve switched between them so for that bit I recorded the OG Crystal, but otherwise everything else I’ve shown is from the new Crystal Light. I just had another look at it and it does have that screw. Not entirely sure to be honest what having or not having that screw has to do with the interchangeable lenses. Most of the Crystal Light is still the old Crystal with some stuff taken out or slightly changed.

@@VRManCave Might just be it being a very early version, the screw is still there, I believe newer models don't have the screw since they are permanent optics and cannot be exchanged like the OG Crystal. Just found it odd the screw was still there and caught my attention. LOL

I love playing seated VR too but, with all due respect, you’d lose 90% of what makes this game amazing by playing seated. You can just calibrate your headset as seated and play it that way, but not being able to move freely is going to take away a lot from the experience.

If you have a steamvr headset, you can use OVR advanced settings to adjust your height so you can play seated. If you have an oculus headset and are playing with Link or Virtual desktop, you can just go into oculus accessibility options and turn on adjust height. If the game doesn’t have a seated mode, you can make your own. Did that myself for BAS. And don’t worry about having to crouch down, the game has a crouch button too
